The Service family recently commissioned me for a series of family portraits on location in Kirkcowan. It was a cold but dry day as we headed out on a short walk around the fields at the behind the village. We started off at Kirkcowan Church and headed down towards the river Tarf.
Portraits on location are wonderful as the subject get to interact with the landscape and the light. A short walk also means there are numerous scenic backdrops which can be used in the photographs rather than the static backdrop which is used in the studio.
Photographing children outdoors is often better as they have an opportunity to run around and the photo shoot can be turned into a game which again is harder to replicate in the studio.
Autumn and Winter are lovely seasons to be photographing portraits outdoors as there is a lovely quality of light and the there are plenty of golden colours and the bright colours of colder weather clothing.
Why not book a session or treat a loved one to a voucher for Christmas and have some lovely memories to hang on your wall or to put into the family album?
