What better way to remember a first birthday than to have a cake smash photo shoot? It was my pleasure to photograph little Ellie recently. I had last photographed her when she was a newborn baby 11 months previously. How time flies.
The Cake Smash…
Mum and Dad arrived at the studio with two outfits, one for the pre-cake shoot and one for the cake smash itself. A cake smash portrait session lasts for 60 minutes. To start with I capture some lovely portraits of the birthday boy or girl, these preliminary photographs can also include Mum and Dad or brothers and sisters if appropriate. After the ‘cake free’ images have been taken I then get the set ready for the main event.
Cake smash first birthday sessions are held in the studio which is located in Kirkcowan. The idea is to have the session as close to the birthday as possible. A small number of family and friends are welcome to come and watch. You are welcome to supply your own cake, this is especially important if your child has allergies. However on request I can provide a suitable cake. This unusual portrait session is great fun and the best of it is that you don’t have to clear up afterwards. Booking is essential for all portrait sessions and it advisable to check availability well in advance if you would like the cake smash to coincide closely with the little ones birthday.
Ellie thoroughly enjoyed having her photographs taken almost as much as she enjoyed eating and destroying the lovely cake that Mum had worked so hard to produce. Mum and Dad now have a lovely and lasting record of her first birthday.
