Wedding Photography in Dumfriesshire
I cover a large number of weddings and elopements in and around Dumfries each year. So I know the venues and locations pretty well. Dumfries is the largest town within Dumfries and Galloway and it sits at the mouth of the River Nith where it meets the Solway Firth. Dumfries is a wedding photographers dream as it has a large number of quality wedding venues for big weddings and Gretna Green is just down the road, the perfect spot for smaller weddings and elopements.
Dumfries is a large market town and it is oozing with history. It was declared a Royal Burgh in 1186 by King William the Lion and it’s strategic importance during the medieval period is confirmed by the impressive strongholds which watched over the landscape at Caerlaverock and also at Lochmaben. Over the years Dumfries has played host to King Robert the Bruce, Bonnie Prince Charlie and also Scotland’s great bard Robert Burns. More recently it has been home to Scottish historian Neil Oliver and also to music legend Calvin Harris so you will be in great company.
