Getting Married in Newton Stewart
I live pretty near to Newton Stewart, which is handy, because if you are getting married, then as a wedding photographer I am perfectly located to capture every detail of your big day. Newton Stewart is a small market town in Dumfries and Galloway and sits beside the river Cree. The town is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery and is the gateway to the Galloway Hills. Within a twenty five mile radius of Newton Stewart there are a variety of small villages and harbours, such as Wigtown, Kirkcowan, Glenluce, Creetown, Port William and Whithorn and there are a number of options for your wedding ceremony and reception. There are three hotels at Newton Stewart that all provide facilities for weddings. The Creebridge House Hotel, The Crown Hotel and Machermore Castle. There is also the beautiful castle at Old Place of Mochrum with lochside and moorland views. There are plenty of scenic spots, sheltered sandy bays, pine forests and heather clad hills, because don’t forget that in Scotland you can get married anywhere.
Places to go near Newton Stewart before or after your Wedding.
There are plenty of activities for your guests to enjoy, before or after the wedding, or if you are looking for activities for a stag or hen party. There are two distilleries, the first, Crafty Distillery produce Hills & Harbour which is the nicest gin in the whole of the UK and the Bladnoch Distillery produces fine single malt and blended whisky. Eight miles away is Wigtown, Scotlands National Booktown, where there are numerous bookshops and an annual book festival. If history is your thing then you can head to Bruces Stone at Glentrool which marks the spot where Robert The Bruce fought one of his first battles in the Scottish Wars of Independence (and has one of the finest views in Scotland), alternatively head to Whithorn where you can visit an iron age roundhouse, the remains of the abbey and the cradle of Christianity.
